PRP Undereye Injections
PRP Injections use your own platelet-rich plasma to naturally rejuvenate the skin. When injected into targeted areas, PRP stimulates collagen production, improves skin texture and tone, reduces fine lines, minimizes dark circles, and restores volume—especially under the eyes. It’s a natural, non-surgical way to achieve firmer, smoother, and more youthful-looking skin. PRP works by stimulating collagen production, improving skin thickness, and enhancing circulation in the area. Unlike fillers, PRP does not add volume immediately; instead, it gradually restores the quality of the skin itself, making the under-eye area healthier and more youthful over time.

At the beginning of the appointment, a small amount of blood is drawn from your arm — similar to a routine lab draw. The blood is then placed into a specialized medical centrifuge. This device spins the sample at high speed, separating the components of the blood by weight. Red blood cells settle to the bottom, while a golden-colored layer rich in platelets and growth factors rise to the top. This concentrated portion is called platelet-rich plasma (PRP).
The PRP is placed precisely into the thin tissue beneath the eyes. The injections are performed along the tear trough and the crepey skin of the lower eyelid to target discoloration, thinning skin, and early hollowing.
After treatment, patients may experience mild swelling, redness, or small bruises at the injection points. These typically resolve within several days.

PRP is a regenerative treatment, meaning results develop gradually as your body produces new collagen and improves the skin from within.
Most patients begin noticing improvement within 2–4 weeks, with continued enhancement over 2–3 months. The under-eye area typically appears:

- Thicker and less crepey
- More even in tone
- Less shadowed
Because PRP improves skin quality rather than simply filling space, the results look very natural. It is especially helpful for patients with thin skin, dark circles, or early aging who are not ideal candidates for dermal filler.
For optimal improvement, a series of 3 treatments spaced about 4–6 weeks apart is usually recommended. Results commonly last 9–12 months, and maintenance treatments can help preserve ongoing collagen stimulation.

Originally from Winnipeg, Canada, he earned his medical degree in 1989 and completed surgical training at Queen’s University and Dalhousie University.
For more than a decade, Dr. Swail has volunteered his skills on surgical mission trips, providing cleft lip and palate care to children in the Philippines through Mending Faces, where he serves as Chair of Surgical Services. He received the organization’s Humanitarian Award in 2007.
