As one of the most popular and widely requested procedures in the United States, toxin injections are a non-surgical cosmetic treatment that rejuvenates the face and restores a youthful appearance. Toxin is often requested to treat the common signs of aging, including crow’s feet, frown lines, and fine lines that develop over time. These signs of aging can be caused by smiling, frowning, squinting, or even chewing. Essentially any facial movement you make can lead to unwanted lines or wrinkles.
Did you know that there are 43 muscles in the face that can impact the unwanted signs of aging? Toxin is a purified substance that blocks muscular nerve signals. This weakens the muscles so that they can’t contract, diminishing unwanted lines and wrinkles. Our nurse injector has extensive knowledge of the facial muscle structure, allowing them the ability to target only the muscles creating the lines and wrinkles. This ensures the end result looks natural and unaltered.

Toxin Results
Since toxin is a minimally invasive procedure, there is no down time or recovery time. Results are typically seen after 3-5 days and peek 10-14 days after the procedure as the muscles in the face begin to relax. Toxin is a temporary procedure that typically lasts three to four months. Once the toxin wears off, facial muscles regain strength and begin causing wrinkles and lines to reappear. Follow up procedures will be necessary to restore the youthful appearance.

Dr. Jeffrey Swail is a board-certified plastic surgeon and a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada, the Colorado Medical Society, and the Boulder County Medical Society.
Originally from Winnipeg, Canada, he earned his medical degree in 1989 and completed surgical training at Queen’s University and Dalhousie University.
For more than a decade, Dr. Swail has volunteered his skills on surgical mission trips, providing cleft lip and palate care to children in the Philippines through Mending Faces, where he serves as Chair of Surgical Services. He received the organization’s Humanitarian Award in 2007.
